How gender roles and ethnicity are represented in the work to know its participation in discourse about equality and social justice is the main investigation of this study. The research provides a detailed examination of the
novel’s
language, narrative structure and thematic perspectives by using qualitative approach. This thesis uses Catherine Belsey's Textual Analysis Technique and is influenced by Kimberle Crenshaw's Intersectionality. The research focuses on the ways in which Gul Begum among other characters, due to her gender and ethnic background faces oppression and inequality. It highlights the ways in which these literary interpretations encourage structural problems because of one’s ethnic background including injustice, gender inequality and limited financial opportunities.
The results indicate Lillias Hamilton's
novel analyzes
patriarchal society and conventional gender roles, showing its dominance and restrictions on women's lives.
The analysis shows the novel’s analytical perspective on ethnicity and gender, and the complexity and depth of these topics regarding its specific culture. Suggestions for advancing gender balance include feminist theory implementation into curriculum, literary work’s related researches, and encouraging regulations that addresses structural discrimination in literature. This research expands the discussion on gender studies by presenting how literature may examine, question, and shed light on dominant social ideas. This study offers meaningful perspectives for educators, scholars, and politicians on ethnicity and gender dynamics in Hamilton's text and its consequences for gender equality.
