Dreams And Neoliberal Mirage: An Ideological Study Of Vikas Swarup’s Novel Q&A

Abstract

Neoliberalism is an economic theory that claims to provide equal opportunities to all individuals. However, its main focus is to revive the power and control of the capitalists. The study is qualitative in nature, using the textual analysis to analyze the novel Q&A, using neoliberal approach offered by David Harvey, criticizing the socio-economic structure of the world, focusing mainly on the developing countries. The study focuses on the policies of neoliberal globalization that victimize the marginal voice and exposes the false claim of equal opportunities, commodification and the value of meritocracy in the neoliberal setup. The system has a merciful eye towards the sufferings and difficulties towards the marginalized voice due to their fallacious promises.
