Abstract

The present study aims to find out the fear of rejection in the movie The Secret. Individuals who have a fear of refusal are often anxious about being disliked, losing control, not fitting in, or being alone. Individuals who have a fear of rejection may struggle with a lack of self-assurance, low self-esteem, feelings of shame, or guilt, and spend a significant amount of energy and time worrying about what others think of them. Fear of rejection is a common fear and can be a normal part of being human. Our families trusted in the existence acknowledged in the group for survival. Common fears, such as the fear of public speaking, related to rejection, can be normal but can cause problems when they start to negatively impact a person’s life or hinder opportunities. The methodology used in this paper is the Interpersonal Rejection Sensitivity model proposed by Downey and Feldman (1996). The source of data is the movie The Secret by Karen Arthur. The data in this paper is analyzed through the following steps: watching the movie, understanding its content, and analyzing the dialogues related to the fear of rejection in The Secret. By analyzing the fear of rejection in the movie, it can build spirit and motivation in other children who face the same fear due to dyslexia, similar to the characters in this movie.
