Personality Types and Workplace Behavior: Understanding How Different Personalities Impact Team Collaboration and Productivity

Abstract
This article explores the effects of personality types on work-related performance, with particular emphasis on the impact of personality dimensions on group dynamics and productivity. In the current study, survey research methodology was adopted in a quantitative way to administer questionnaires and data were collected from 200 respondents from different sectors of organizations such as finance, healthcare, education, and technology. To measure participants on the personality aspects of the study the Big Five Inventory, named BFI-44, was employed to estimate participants'’’ Conscientiousness, Agreeableness, Extraversion and emotional stability. A survey schedule with set questions was used to assess the behavioral pattern regarding the working teams and productivity output. The data were analyzed with the help of Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) and using Descriptive analysis, Pearson’s correlation coefficients, and multiple regression in an examination of outcome variables with personality dimensions. The results found out that there is a positive correlation between Conscientiousness and Agreeableness with the collaboration and productivity levels of the teams and that Extraversion predicts engagement in team activities. Self-regulation was revealed as a major element for consideration when looking at the potential of teams to successfully manage conflict. It is emphasized that to increase the efficiency of teams it is necessary to be aware of personality dynamics, the recommendations are pinpointed concerning the aspects of recruitment, the formation of the optimal composition of teams, and the prospective training programs.
