Arbitration stands as a crucial alternative dispute resolution mechanism, offering expeditious disposal of issues outside the court. This research article explores the evolution and current state of arbitration laws in Pakistan. The article provides a detailed historical background while examining the legislative framework and analyzing significant Supreme Court judgments that have shaped arbitration practices.
This study highlights the crucial role of the Supreme Court in interpreting and guiding the application of arbitration laws, thereby fostering a more arbitration-friendly legal environment. Additionally, it assesses the proposed Arbitration Act 2024, which aims to address existing gaps, streamline procedures, and align Pakistan’s arbitration framework with international standards.
