Abstract

This research investigates the role of international trade agreements, with a specific emphasis on the TRIPS Agreement, in advancing intellectual property protection. In the context of globalization and rapid technological progress, safeguarding intellectual property (IP) becomes essential for economic development. Operating within the World Trade Organization, the TRIPS Agreement acts as a foundational structure for standardizing global IP regulations and fostering international trade. Through qualitative analysis, the study examines the implementation of the TRIPS Agreement and evaluates its effectiveness in promoting IP protection, assessing impacts on trade, investment, technology transfer, and economic development. The research is structured into three main sections: an introduction to global IP agreements, an exploration of the theoretical foundation and criticisms of the TRIPS Agreement, and a focus on the legal framework governing intellectual property.
