Abstract

The evolution of the Pakistan-Russia strategic partnership is a complex interplay of geopolitical, geo-economics, and geostrategic factors, profoundly influenced by the changing dynamics of global power competition. This research aims to trace the historical background of Pakistan-Russia relations and analyze the drivers contributing to the emergence of their strategic partnership. Using offensive realism as a theoretical framework, the study examines the convergence of interests between the two nations, particularly in the realms of global security dynamics, regional strategic balancing, defense collaboration, Afghanistan, and counterterrorism. Furthermore, it delves into the energy, economic, and trade dimensions of their partnership, highlighting the significance of energy security, food security, and economic cooperation. By elucidating the multifaceted nature of the Pakistan-Russia strategic partnership, this research provides insights into how both countries navigate the evolving geopolitical landscape and forge a mutually beneficial alliance amidst new great power competition.
