Impact of Cyber Harassment on the Self-esteem and academic achievements of Pakistani Adolescents: In Gender Perspective

Abstract

Cyber-harassment among secondary and higher secondary (HSSC) Pakistani adolescent’s academic achievements and self-esteem in genders perspective, being the main objective of this article, has a lot of potential. Study was designed to quantitatively examine the sample by using stratified sampling technique. Cyber bullying Victimization Scale (Patchin and Hinduja, 2010), was adapted. Descriptive analysis was conducted using version 26 of the Statistical Kit for SPSS (Social Sciences). To explore impact of cyber harassment among students regration analysis was done in order. The T-Test study was conducted to identify the gender variances. The results concluded that a negative significant difference is present among the genders regarding cyber harassment victimization. It showed that the cyber harassment impact on adolescent’s self-esteem as well as their academic achievement. Feminine seem to have a stronger opinion than make adolescents, regarding cyber harassment. Therefore, it is very important for educational institutes to hire psychologists to ensure a positive support system for the adolescents. This study contributes to helpful the current and future role of social media in preventing cyber harassment.
